Certification Levels

The International 4-Level Certification System for Project Management Specialists provides for the assessment of project management professionals at four qualification levels. The certification center “Latvia-Cert” organizes certification for IPMA Levels D, C, B, and A. The certification process is based on an evaluation of the candidate’s competencies, which includes an analysis of their knowledge, experience, and personal attributes.

IPMA Level A – Certified Project / Programme / Portfolio Director:
An individual capable of managing significant projects, project portfolios, or programs by utilizing appropriate resources, methodologies, and tools. The focus is on certification of the ability to manage complex scenarios, not the management of individual projects. To assume such responsibilities, high-level knowledge and experience are required.

IPMA Level B – Certified Senior Project / Programme / Portfolio Manager:
An individual capable of managing complex projects, programs, or portfolios. Typically, the project involves multiple components, meaning the project manager oversees the project with the support of sub-project managers and relies less on direct management of the project team.

IPMA Level C – Certified Project Manager:
An individual capable of managing moderately complex projects, demonstrating an appropriate level of experience in addition to the ability to apply project management knowledge effectively.

IPMA Level D – Certified Project Management Associate:
An individual capable of applying project management knowledge while participating in a project in any role. General knowledge is insufficient; a satisfactory level of competence must be demonstrated.
